Comply and Shopify POS
Comply is an app developed exclusively for businesses using Shopify POS that need to comply with the Verifactu regulation at their physical points of sale. Specifically designed for retail environments, Comply enables you to process sales, exchanges, and returns while generating fully compliant invoices—without switching platforms or taking on additional administrative burdens.
Starting January 1, 2026, all physical points of sale in Spain must comply with Verifactu, with the exception of the Basque Country (which follows TicketBAI) and Navarre. The fiscal transition is already underway, and Comply is here to help you meet the requirements seamlessly.
What is Verifactu?
Verifactu is an invoicing system mandated by the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT) that ensures the authenticity, traceability, and integrity of all invoicing records. Its primary goal is to prevent tax fraud and increase transparency in physical sales transactions.
Under Verifactu, each receipt or invoice must include a traceable record, which can either be submitted automatically to the AEAT or stored for future inspection.
How Does Verifactu Impact In-Store Sales?
Verifactu has a direct impact on the daily operations of retail businesses:
Store receipts now become invoices and must follow a standardized format validated by the AEAT.
A QR code must be included to identify each transaction and ensure its traceability.
All documents must form part of an unalterable, chained sequence of records (no gaps, no duplicates).
More stringent deadlines and technical requirements apply to the systems used to issue sales documents.
With Comply, this entire process is automated and seamless: receipts issued through Shopify POS are automatically converted into legally compliant invoices—without altering the sales experience for staff or customers.
What Requirements Must Software Like Comply Meet?
The AEAT mandates that all POS invoicing systems meet specific technical standards. For Shopify POS, Comply is the certified solution that guarantees full compliance.
Comply meets the following requirements:
Full integration with Shopify POS, enabling invoices to be issued for every sale, exchange, or return with Verifactu validation.
Real-time generation and submission of verifiable, chained, and traceable fiscal records to the Spanish Tax Agency.
Automatic inclusion of a QR code on each invoice (receipt), containing all legally required data.
Export functionality for audits and tax inspections.
Because it’s built specifically for this environment, Comply removes the complexity of adapting generic systems and ensures full compatibility with Shopify’s in-store sales platform.
Who Is Required to Use Verifactu?
All physical points of sale in Spain will be required to implement a Verifactu-compatible system starting January 1, 2026, with the following exceptions:
Basque Country, where the TicketBAI system applies.
Navarre, which follows its own regional regulations.
Comply is designed to support all these scenarios, with native integrations for Verifactu, TicketBAI, and—where applicable—the SII system.
How Do I Implement Verifactu Using Comply?
Setting up Comply is quick and guided. All you need is your fiscal information and an active Shopify POS account. The entire process is handled within the app and can be completed in just a few minutes.
During onboarding, you’ll be asked to:
Configure your fiscal environment.
Enter your business’s legal information.
Digitally sign the official Direct Representation Authorization, which allows DAP Consulting SL (developer of Comply) to submit your fiscal records to the AEAT on your behalf.
What Is Comply’s Role as a Social Collaborator of the AEAT?
Comply, developed by DAP Consulting SL, is an official Social Collaborator of the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT). This designation allows us—via the signed direct representation agreement—to act on behalf of your business in transmitting Verifactu-compliant records electronically.
This specific and limited representation only authorizes us to submit Verifactu records on your behalf. It does not grant us general power of attorney or access to unrelated tax matters.
As a result, your compliance is fully automated and secure—without requiring any manual steps on your end.
