Manage and register your locations in France from the Locations menu in Comply. Here you can update an existing SIRET number or register a new location that hasn't been set up yet.
How to access locations
Go to Shopify Admin
Click Apps
Select Comply
Click Locations
Location table view
Column | Description |
Location | The name of the location — a store, warehouse, or office. Used in reports and POS configuration. |
Address
| The physical address of the location. It must match the address registered with the SIRET. |
SIRET number | The tax identification number for the establishment in France. Required for all active POS locations. Each location must have a unique SIRET — duplicate numbers can't be used across locations. |
Status | The registration status of the location. A location is Registered when it has a SIRET assigned and has completed the registration process. Unregistered locations can't process sales until they complete registration. |
Active POS | Whether the location has an active POS terminal. Active means the location is processing sales. No POS means the location doesn't make direct sales and doesn't need a SIRET. |
Use the tabs at the top to filter your locations:
Registered — locations with a SIRET already configured.
Needs review — locations with a missing or duplicate SIRET.
No POS — locations marked as non-physical storefronts. No registration needed.
Important: if one or more locations have a missing or duplicate SIRET, you'll see a warning at the top of the screen. Resolve it to stay NF525 compliant.
Which locations need to be registered?
Only locations with an active POS that process in-person sales need a SIRET number. You don't need to register:
Warehouses — storage locations with no direct sales.
Online stores — Comply covers Shopify POS only. Online sales are not in scope for NF525.
Offices — administrative locations with no POS activity.
If a location doesn't have an active POS, open the location details and disable the Physical storefront toggle. Comply will exclude it from registration requirements automatically.
How to register a location
When a location appears as Unregistered, it can't process orders in the POS. Follow these steps to complete registration:
Go to Locations in Comply
Open the Needs review tab or find the store with Unregistered status
Click on the location to open its details
Check the name, address, and the Physical storefront toggle
Click Register
Physical storefront toggle: if this location doesn't make in-person sales — for example, it's a warehouse or an office — disable the toggle before registering. The system won't require an active SIRET for that location.
Once you click Register, enter the SIRET number in the modal that appears. The SIRET has 14 digits: 9 for the SIREN (your company identifier) and 5 for the NIC (the specific establishment).
Tip: if you don't know your establishment number, look it up in the official French business directory.
Important Notes
Each physical store in France must have its own unique SIRET.
The SIRET must match the store's official registered address.
An incorrect or missing SIRET will block POS operations.
Once registered, your location is compliant and ready to operate in France.
How to change the SIRET number of a location
If a location is already registered and you need to update its SIRET:
Go to Shopify Admin → Apps → Comply → Locations
Open the Registered tab
Click the location you want to update
Edit the SIRET number
Click Save
The updated SIRET applies to that location immediately.
FAQ's Locations
What Happens If I Edit a Location in Shopify?
What Happens If I Edit a Location in Shopify?
Comply syncs locations using the Shopify Location ID, so any changes you make in Shopify — name or address — are reflected in Comply automatically. Existing ticket numbering won't reset and historical transactions stay intact.
If you generate a Tax Archive after editing a location, it'll show the current name saved in Shopify, even if the location had a different name when the original tickets were issued.

What happens if I edit the SIRET number in Comply?
The new SIRET appears on all future tickets. The location itself stays the same — same Location ID, same register history.
Important: editing the SIRET doesn't create a new fiscal entity. It updates the existing one.
When should I create a new location instead of editing an existing one?
When should I create a new location instead of editing an existing one?
If you're physically moving your POS to a new address or operating a legally distinct establishment, create a new location rather than editing the existing one:
Create a new location in Shopify
Register the new location in Comply with its correct SIRET
Transfer inventory to the new location
This ensures a clear separation of fiscal history, proper traceability for NF525, and cleaner tax archive reporting.
What Happens If I Delete a Location in Shopify?
What Happens If I Delete a Location in Shopify?
Deleting a location in Shopify doesn't delete fiscal data in Comply, doesn't affect previously generated tickets, and doesn't remove data from Tax Archives. French law and NF525 require Comply to retain fiscal data for 6+1 years, even if the Shopify location is deleted.
