Follow these 5 steps to set up Comply according to TicketBAI regulations.
Step 0. Set up your tax environment
Before you start, select the following:
1. Scope
Basque Country autonomous community (Álava, Vizcaya, or Guipúzcoa). Select the provincial council (Diputación Foral) you want to register under:
Álava
Vizcaya
Guipúzcoa
2. Tax regime
Select the tax regime that applies to your business (under Law 37/1992):
General regime
Special regime for used goods, art objects, antiques, and collectibles
Special regime for travel agencies
Special regime for agriculture, livestock, and fishing
Simplified special regime
Special regime for investment gold
3. Tax type
Select the tax that applies to your business:
Value Added Tax (VAT)
Production, Services, and Import Tax (IPSI) for Ceuta and Melilla
Canary Islands General Indirect Tax (IGIC)
Step 1. Fill in your tax details
Enter your business's basic information:
Entity type: company or sole trader
Full name or legal business name
Tax ID (NIF or NIE)
Full tax address
Tip: Double-check these details, since they'll be used in your tax communications.
If you're a sole trader and selected the Vizcaya provincial council, you'll also need to provide your economic activity code. You can download the full code list here.
Step 2. Review your details for the representation agreement signature
Review or complete your Comply profile details:
If you're a company: fill in the legal representative's details.
If you're a sole trader: check that your details are correct.
Step 3. Sign the representation agreement
In this step, download the document that formally authorizes DAP Consulting SL, the Comply software provider, to submit your TicketBAI files on your behalf to the relevant provincial tax authority (Hacienda Foral of Álava, Vizcaya, or Guipúzcoa, depending on your territory).
This authorization is mandatory to comply with TicketBAI tax regulations. It's limited exclusively to that electronic submission and doesn't grant general powers of representation.
The requirement to digitally sign this document is set out in each provincial council's voluntary representation regulations. Your signature guarantees the legal compliance of the process and lets you automate communication with the relevant provincial tax authority securely and in line with the law.
Download the representation document.
Sign it digitally with a qualified electronic certificate (such as one from FNMT).
Upload the signed document to the platform.
If you don't currently have an authorized digital signature, check with your tax
advisor or accountant to see if they have one to act on your behalf. If not, ask them how to obtain an official one from the FNMT (Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre - Real Casa de la Moneda).
Step 4. Activate Comply in Shopify POS
To record your transactions in the Shopify POS channel, you need to enable the app.
Enable the app
Go to Sales channels > Point of Sale > Settings.
Go to Customizations > POS app.
Go to Apps.
Activate Comply POS UI Assistant.
Save, then go to Sections.
Add the Comply app to your Smart Grid so you can generate full invoices and receive tax alerts.
Save your settings.
Tip: To access it with a single click, tap "Activate the app".
Step 5. Register a test order in Shopify POS to validate the connection
To confirm the connection with the relevant provincial tax authority is working, you need to place a test order from POS.
You'll see a circular icon on screen indicating Comply is waiting for an order.
Create a test order in Shopify POS (this can be a simulated amount above €0.00, for example, €1.00). If the wait times out, tap the "Refresh" button to reactivate Comply.
Comply will automatically verify the connection with the relevant provincial tax authority.
If everything's correct, you'll see a confirmation screen. If there's an error, we'll walk you through how to fix it.
⚠️Once you complete the registration process, your invoices start being reported in real time.
With these 5 simple steps, Comply is set up and ready to use under the TicketBAI regime. We recommend reviewing the following articles to learn more about using our solution at the point of sale or managing your recorded invoices from the Shopify admin.
