What happens if a sale has no tax document?

If a Shopify POS sale is missing its tax document, Comply detects it and creates it automatically.

Sometimes a sale can be completed at the POS but end up without its tax document. This can happen for a number of reasons — the device loses its internet connection, the connection is unstable, or the app takes too long to respond at the time of payment…

How it works

Every time a sale is completed at your point of sale, Comply automatically checks whether it has a tax document. If everything is correct, it does nothing. If the document is missing, Comply creates it for you without any intervention on your part.

As soon as your device recovers its connection and the order is visible in Shopify admin, Comply acts within 3 minutes. The tax document it creates includes:

  • The original date of the sale.

  • All required tax data.

  • The result is identical to the document that would have been generated without the error.

This applies to all tax regimes. For Verifactu and TicketBAI, the record is also automatically submitted to the AEAT or the relevant Diputación Foral.

Comply handles all of this in the background. Your team doesn't need to intervene or follow any additional steps.

Note: This feature is currently active for sales made through the POS only. Exchanges and returns will be included in a future update. Last updated: August 24, 2026.
